National Coaches Certification Program course – Fundamental Movement Skills

I have received certification from the NCCP to observe, detect, and correct the fundamental movement skills to guide the physical development of all children. This training provided me with tools, templates, games, and activities to help me implement practices and sessions that develop kids fundamental movement skills. These skills are crucial to a child’s development as they allow them to enjoy sports and movement, which may lead to a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.  By teaching children and helping them develop, they can break down simple skills into key components that will help children learn and understand a wide range of physical movements. Through doing this, children acquire basic building blocks for competence, confidence and motivation to try many physical activities and sports.

Sport for Life Physical Literacy Certification

I am a level 1 physical literacy leader, meaning that I have received an entry-level certification that equips me with the competence to advocate for the development of physical literacy within my community. This training has given me a comprehensive understanding of physical literacy concepts which cultivate a sense of belonging in sport and physical activity. It has provided me with the ability to educate others on the role that physical literacy plays in health, to identify various tools and resources that can assist with developing physical literacy, and how to encourage continual development of physical literacy skills across a child’s lifespan.

First Aid Certification – Emergency First Aid with CPR C/AED

I am certified in first aid, the equivalent to WorkSafe Occupational level 1, which is extremely beneficial for me as a future educator. Children, especially in the elementary school environment, are prone to accidents and injuries, so having my first aid certification has equipped me with the skills to handle these types of situations effectively. I am able to recognize various medical emergencies and take appropriate action until professional medical help arrives. Having first aid also contributes to my ability to create a safe and secure learning environment for my students – not only am I trained to handle emergencies, but I also have the opportunity to teach students about basic safety which promotes a culture of safety within the school community.
