By going back and reflecting on my personal educational journey, I discovered a good deal about the type of teacher I both want to and do not want to be. I found myself thinking about what I valued from specific teachers, how I could emulate that in my own teaching practice, and about what qualities I do not want to embody. I learned that my positive experiences with teachers were just as prevalent as my negative encounters, and I really began to understand the influence that accompanies the role of an educator. I believe that the process of looking back on my experiences has allowed me to look ahead in a way that will benefit myself and my future students.
