As stated on the first page of the document, the Professional Standards for BC Educators are important because they are centered around a “belief in the success of all students.” The standards serve as an ethical, professional, and pedagogical compass that will help guide me in my personal development and in my practice. They also place emphasize on the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and employing a variety of strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. The Professional Standards are more than just a set of rules, they are a valuable resource that will allow me, as a teacher candidate, to understand the expectations of the profession, to continually reflect on my practice, and to become the best possible educator I can be for my future students.
